The Drive

EGE sits in Gypsum at the western end of the Vail Valley, and the whole trip to Breckenridge points east. Your chauffeur joins I-70 at exit 140 and follows the valley upstream through Eagle, past the Avon and Beaver Creek exit at 167, and on to Vail at exits 176 and 180. This first stretch is the gentle part: the interstate runs along the valley floor, the towns come one after another, and on a clear day you are in Vail in about 40 minutes.

East of Vail the road changes character. I-70 leaves the valley and climbs Vail Pass, topping out at 10,662 feet. The pass is the crux of this route. It is a long, steady grade with tight curves near the summit, it collects snow earlier and holds it longer than the valley below, and it closes several times each winter for storms and crashes. Our chauffeurs treat it with respect: an AWD or 4WD vehicle on winter tires, a check of CDOT conditions before leaving the airport, and a pace that suits the road rather than the clock.

Over the summit, the interstate descends the east side to Copper Mountain at exit 195, then swings north through the narrow stretch to Frisco. You leave I-70 at exit 203 and turn south on Highway 9 for the final 10 miles into Breckenridge. Highway 9 is the main road in and out of town and carries the ski traffic, so on a peak Saturday the last few miles move slowly. Your chauffeur knows the timing of it because it is the road home.

Two things set this route apart from the Denver approach. First, it never touches the Eisenhower Tunnel or the Denver-side I-70 corridor, so the holds and backups east of the Divide are not your problem. Second, it does cross Vail Pass, which the Denver approach avoids. The Colorado Traction Law covers I-70 from Dotsero at mile marker 133 to Morrison, and EGE’s exit 140 is east of Dotsero, so every mile of this transfer is inside the traction-law zone from September 1 through May 31. Glenwood Canyon, which closes for rockfall and mudslides, lies west of the airport and is not part of this drive. Where We Meet You

EGE is a single-terminal airport, which makes the meet simple. Your chauffeur waits inside at baggage claim, helps with the bags as they come off the carousel, and walks you out to the vehicle. If you prefer to meet outside, the ground transportation lot is directly outside Door 6, and the chauffeur can be waiting there instead. Tell us which you prefer when you book; inside at baggage claim is the default.

Flight tracking is included on every airport pickup. EGE is served by nonstop winter flights from many hubs, but it has fewer flights than DIA and more sensitivity to weather, which means schedule changes, holds and occasional diversions. If your flight is delayed, the chauffeur adjusts and you do not need to call. If your flight diverts to another airport, call us as soon as you know where you are landing and we reroute the pickup to meet you there.

For private aviation, the Vail Valley Jet Center is the FBO at EGE, and Signature Aviation and NetJets operate there. We meet private and charter arrivals planeside or at the FBO lobby, whichever the operator prefers, and we coordinate timing with the flight crew or your travel coordinator. Give us the tail number or the operator’s flight reference when you book so we can track the arrival the same way we track a commercial flight.

Guests flying into EGE are often traveling for a specific reason, whether a family ski week, a corporate retreat or a private-aviation arrival, and the vehicle should match the trip. The 2025 Cadillac Escalade seats five with luggage and a rooftop ski carrier and is the usual choice for couples, families of four and executives. The 2026 Chevrolet Suburban seats five with more cargo room and is the better fit when the ski bags are large or the trip is long.

Groups arriving together, especially those coming off a charter or a corporate flight at the Vail Valley Jet Center, use the 2025 Mercedes-Benz Executive Sprinter, which seats up to 13, or the 2025 Ford Transit, which seats up to 14.
