Getting to Keystone
Keystone is one of the shortest airport-to-resort drives in the Colorado mountains, because it sits just off I-70 on the far side of the Eisenhower Tunnel without a long valley road to cover.
Denver International is the airport most Keystone guests use. The distance is about 96 miles and the drive takes about 1 hour 40 minutes in normal conditions, or 2 hours to 2 hours 45 minutes in winter and on holiday weekends. Your chauffeur meets you at the Level 5 car service island or inside at baggage claim, then drives I-70 west through Idaho Springs and Georgetown, through the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel at 11,158 feet, and exits at Silverthorne and Dillon, exit 205. Eagle County Regional Airport in Gypsum is the alternative for travelers who find a convenient nonstop. The drive comes east on I-70 past Avon and Vail, over Vail Pass at 10,662 feet, past Copper Mountain and Frisco to exit 205, then US-6 to Keystone. It takes roughly as long as our EGE to Breckenridge run, about 1 hour 30 minutes in good conditions and longer in a storm. EGE has fewer daily flights than DIA and cancels more readily in weather, so it is a better choice for the inbound leg than for a tight return connection. Winter Roads and Closures
For a Keystone arrival from Denver, the Eisenhower Tunnel is the single point that matters. It closes for storms, crashes and hazmat holds, sometimes for a few minutes and sometimes for hours. When I-70 is closed east of the tunnel, the alternate we use is US-285 to Fairplay, Highway 9 north over Hoosier Pass at 11,542 feet through Breckenridge, and then Swan Mountain Road to Keystone. It is longer, and the chauffeur weighs the extra miles against how long the interstate is expected to stay shut before committing.
US-6 itself is a well-maintained two-lane road along the lake, and the stretch between Dillon and the resort rarely causes trouble. Beyond Keystone, US-6 climbs to Arapahoe Basin and then over Loveland Pass; that road is steep and exposed, and our chauffeurs drive it regularly for A-Basin ski days so you do not have to.
Colorado’s Traction Law applies to I-70 between Morrison and Dotsero from September 1 to May 31 each year. It requires AWD or 4WD with adequate tread on winter, all-weather or M+S tires, or approved chains or traction devices. Our SUVs and Sprinters meet it every day of the season, and the chauffeur checks CDOT conditions before every departure.
Where We Pick Up and Drop Off in Keystone
Keystone Resort is arranged in three base areas plus the surrounding neighborhoods, and the drop point depends on where you are staying.
River Run Village is the busiest base, with the gondola, restaurants and most of the condominium buildings. The village core is pedestrian, so we bring the vehicle to the closest access point your building allows and walk bags the last few steps if needed. Lakeside Village sits by the lake near the Keystone Lodge & Spa, which has a covered entrance for arrivals and departures. Mountain House is the original base area a short distance west, with its own lifts and lodging.
Keystone Ranch, up the valley from the resort core, hosts weddings and events, and we run guest shuttles between the ranch and lodging around the resort. Private homes in the neighborhoods off US-6 and along the roads above the villages are served door to door; some driveways are steep and snow-packed in winter, so give us the exact address and we will send the right vehicle.
Because Dillon and Silverthorne are about 10 minutes west along US-6, we also serve guests who stay in those towns and ski at Keystone, and Breckenridge is about 20 minutes over Swan Mountain Road for guests splitting a week between the two resorts. Your chauffeur confirms the meeting point the day before every pickup.
Getting Around Keystone Without a Rental Car
Keystone is spread out enough that a car seems necessary at first, but a chauffeur on call covers everything a rental would and skips the parking.
Dinner runs between River Run, Lakeside Village and Keystone Ranch are short trips that we schedule around your reservation. A grocery stop on the way in from the airport is easy to add: the chauffeur pulls off at Dillon or Silverthorne, waits, and continues to the resort.
Ski days at other mountains are the most common in-stay booking. Arapahoe Basin is a short drive further up US-6 and its parking fills on powder mornings, so a drop at the base is a real advantage. Breckenridge is about 20 minutes via Swan Mountain Road, Copper Mountain is about 25 minutes by way of Frisco, and Vail is about an hour east over Vail Pass. We take your group to the base, hold spare gear in the vehicle, and collect you at a set time or when you call.
Keystone draws families, and family logistics are a large part of what we do here: one vehicle taking teenagers to a lesson at River Run while another takes parents to Lakeside Village, with pickup times set the night before. Keystone Ranch weddings need a shuttle loop between the ceremony site and guest lodging, and the Sprinter and Transit are built for that. Hourly chauffeur service assigns one vehicle and one chauffeur to your group for a block of hours, which suits a corporate group in town for meetings or a summer day that includes the lake and Loveland Pass.

The 2025 Cadillac Escalade and 2026 Chevrolet Suburban each seat up to five passengers with rooftop ski carriers, winter tires and AWD or 4WD. For a family of four with a week of luggage and skis, the Suburban’s cargo depth is the better fit; for a couple or a business traveler, the Escalade is the usual choice.
Larger parties ride in the 2025 Mercedes-Benz Executive Sprinter, which seats up to 13, or the 2025 Ford Transit, which seats up to 14. Skis and boards travel inside both, and they handle multi-family ski weeks, wedding shuttles and corporate groups without splitting the party across two cars. The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is available by request. Child seats are installed on request, and each vehicle carries Wi-Fi and bottled water. Your chauffeur loads and unloads. Planning Your Departure from Keystone
For a DIA flight, allow the drive time plus 30 to 45 minutes of winter weather margin plus your airline’s check-in time. In good conditions that means leaving Keystone about three hours before a domestic departure, and earlier in a storm or on a holiday. Sunday afternoons and holiday Mondays are the slowest eastbound periods on I-70, when the tunnel approach can back up for miles, so a Sunday afternoon flight deserves an earlier start.
For EGE, the drive is shorter but includes Vail Pass, so the same margin applies, and we suggest checking your flight status the morning of departure because EGE schedules shift with weather.
