Airport Transfers and Days in Summit County

Summit Black Car provides private, prearranged chauffeur service in Dillon, Frisco and Silverthorne, the three towns around Lake Dillon at the center of Summit County. They sit at I-70 exits 203 and 205, closer to the Eisenhower Tunnel than any of the resorts, and within 10 to 25 minutes of Keystone, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain and Arapahoe Basin. That makes them a practical base for a multi-resort ski week, a second home, or a summer on the lake, and a chauffeur makes the base work without a car. We handle the airport transfer from Denver International or Eagle County, the evenings on Frisco Main Street or at the Dillon Marina, the resort days, and the departure.

The company is based in Breckenridge, about 15 minutes from Frisco, and was founded by Andrew Siegel, a former Colorado State Trooper and executive protection professional. Our chauffeurs live in Summit County and are on call 24 hours a day. Get an Instant Quote or call 970-485-3494 any time.

Getting to Dillon, Frisco and Silverthorne

The Lake Dillon towns are the first stop in Summit County on the far side of the Eisenhower Tunnel, which makes them the quickest Summit County destinations from Denver.

Denver International is the airport nearly everyone uses. Silverthorne and Dillon are at exit 205, the first exit past the tunnel, and Frisco is at exit 203 a few minutes further. The drive from DIA is a few minutes shorter than our DIA to Keystone run, which takes about 1 hour 40 minutes, so plan on about 1 hour 30 to 35 minutes in normal conditions and 2 hours to 2 hours 45 minutes in winter or on a holiday weekend. Your chauffeur meets you at the Level 5 car service island or inside at baggage claim, then drives I-70 west through Floyd Hill, Idaho Springs and Georgetown, through the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel at 11,158 feet, and off at exit 205 for Silverthorne and Dillon or exit 203 for Frisco. The pickup procedure and winter timing are described on our DIA to Keystone page and DIA to Breckenridge page, which cover the same interstate leg.

Eagle County Regional Airport in Gypsum is the alternative. The chauffeur drives I-70 east past Avon and Vail, over Vail Pass at 10,662 feet, past Copper Mountain and into Frisco at exit 203 or on to exit 205. It is about 15 minutes shorter than our EGE to Breckenridge run of about 1 hour 30 minutes, so roughly 1 hour 15 minutes in good conditions and longer in a storm. EGE has nonstop winter flights from many hubs but fewer departures than DIA and more weather cancellations. The EGE to Breckenridge page covers the terminal pickup and the Vail Pass leg.

Private aviation clients arriving at the Vail Valley Jet Center at EGE, or at Centennial, Rocky Mountain Metropolitan or the Signature FBO at DIA, are met at the FBO; see the private jet and FBO transfer page. All routes are listed on the Airport Routes hub.

Winter Roads and Closures

Silverthorne is the I-70 gateway to Summit County, and the Eisenhower Tunnel just east of it is the road feature that governs every Denver arrival and departure for these towns. The tunnel closes for storms, crashes and hazmat holds. When I-70 is closed east of the tunnel, the alternate is US-285 to Fairplay, then Highway 9 north over Hoosier Pass at 11,542 feet through Breckenridge and on to Frisco, Dillon and Silverthorne. Because the Lake Dillon towns are the closest destinations to the tunnel, a short hold is often the better choice than the long detour, and the chauffeur makes that call from CDOT’s expected reopening time.

For EGE arrivals and for trips to Vail, Vail Pass is the concern. It closes several times each winter with no short alternate, so we hold and wait for the reopening. Within the three towns, Highway 9 between Frisco and Breckenridge, US-6 along the lake to Keystone, and the Dillon Dam Road are maintained roads that rarely cause problems, though the Saturday afternoon change-over backs up the Frisco and Silverthorne intersections.

Colorado’s Traction Law is in force on I-70 between Morrison and Dotsero from September 1 to May 31. It requires AWD or 4WD with adequate tread on winter, all-weather or M+S tires, or approved chains or traction devices. Our SUVs and Sprinters meet it every day of the season, and the chauffeur checks conditions before leaving for the airport.

Where We Pick Up and Drop Off in Dillon, Frisco and Silverthorne

These are residential towns rather than resort villages, so most pickups are at private homes, condominiums and vacation rentals, and we serve every address in the three towns door to door.

In Frisco, Main Street is the center, with restaurants, shops and lodging within a few blocks. Lakefront condominiums and the neighborhoods on the slopes above town are a short drive, and some of the upper streets are steep in winter, so give us the exact address. Dillon centers on the lake: the Dillon Marina, the amphitheater on the shore, the condominiums along the lakefront and the neighborhoods toward Summit Cove and Keystone. Silverthorne stretches north from exit 205 along the Blue River, with the outlet stores near the interstate and residential areas including Wildernest on the hillside above town, where switchbacks and grades call for an experienced driver and the right vehicle.

Second-home arrivals are a large share of our work here. If the house is unattended, we coordinate with your property manager on keys or codes and deliver you to the door at the arranged time. Rental guests checking in through a management office can add that stop to the airport transfer. For departures, the chauffeur arrives early, loads at your door and confirms the flight before heading for the tunnel.

Getting Around Dillon, Frisco and Silverthorne Without a Rental Car

The Lake Dillon towns are the hub of Summit County, and everything you would drive to is a short run. The Summit Stage bus serves the county, but we do not operate it; what we offer is a private chauffeur on your schedule.

Evenings are simple. Frisco Main Street has the largest concentration of restaurants in the three towns, the Dillon Marina restaurants and the amphitheater are the summer draw, and Silverthorne has its own dining and the outlet stores. We collect you at the house, drop you at the door and return when you call or at a set time. Grocery runs are easily added to any airport transfer, since the stores are minutes from either exit.

For ski days, the location is the point. Keystone is about 10 minutes from Dillon and Silverthorne along US-6, Arapahoe Basin a short drive beyond it, Copper Mountain about 10 minutes from Frisco, and Breckenridge about 15 minutes from Frisco down Highway 9. Vail is about 40 minutes west of Frisco over Vail Pass. We take your group to the base, hold spare gear in the vehicle, and collect you at a set time, which is a real advantage on powder mornings when resort lots fill early.

Summer brings lake days at the Dillon and Frisco marinas, concerts at the amphitheater, and mountain biking from the Frisco peninsula, and we handle drop-offs and returns for all of them. Weddings and events at venues in the three towns use a guest shuttle loop in the Sprinter or Transit with an Escalade for the couple. Hourly chauffeur service assigns one vehicle and chauffeur to you for a block of hours, whether for a day of property showings with your broker or a summer drive over Loveland Pass.

Vehicles for Dillon, Frisco and Silverthorne Trips

The 2025 Cadillac Escalade and 2026 Chevrolet Suburban each seat up to five passengers, run AWD or 4WD on winter tires, and carry skis in rooftop carriers so the cabin stays clear. For a couple or a business traveler the Escalade is the usual choice; for a family with a week of luggage and skis the Suburban offers more cargo depth. Both handle the steeper driveways above Frisco and in Wildernest.

Groups ride in the 2025 Mercedes-Benz Executive Sprinter, seating up to 13, or the 2025 Ford Transit, seating up to 14, with skis and boards carried inside. They suit multi-family ski weeks based in one large house, corporate groups and wedding shuttles. The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is available by request. Child seats are installed on request, and every vehicle has Wi-Fi and bottled water. Your chauffeur loads and unloads the luggage. Tell us the passenger count, the number of bags, ski gear and child seats when you book so the assigned vehicle has room for everything; we do not promise unlimited capacity.

Planning Your Departure from Dillon, Frisco and Silverthorne

For a DIA flight, plan the pickup around the drive time plus 30 to 45 minutes of winter weather margin plus your airline’s check-in time. The Lake Dillon towns are the closest Summit County departure points to the tunnel, so in good conditions leaving about three hours before a domestic flight is comfortable; in a storm or on a holiday, earlier. Sunday afternoons and holiday Mondays are the slowest eastbound periods on I-70, and the backup often starts at the Silverthorne on-ramp, so a Sunday afternoon flight deserves an earlier start. Your chauffeur suggests a time when you book and confirms it the day before.

For an EGE flight the drive is shorter but crosses Vail Pass, so keep the same margin and check your flight status the morning of departure, since EGE schedules move with weather.

Why a Local Chauffeur Beats Rideshare and Rentals Here

A house in Frisco or Silverthorne seems like the obvious place to keep a rental car, and for a long stay some guests do. For a ski week the math is different: the car spends most of its time in the driveway, every resort trip ends with a search for parking that fills early on the best days, and the drive up through the tunnel in a storm is a job for someone who does it regularly. The Traction Law on I-70 applies to rental cars, and not every rental meets it.

Rideshare is available in Summit County but scarce relative to a city, and scarcest at exactly the wrong moments: a pre-dawn airport run, a snowstorm, and the Saturday afternoon change-over. A prearranged chauffeur is committed to your pickup before you land, tracks your flight, and is at the door at the agreed time.
